Why Donations Are Important
The Whatcom Environmental Council runs a lean and mean operation with most all of our labor being donated by our Board members. Because of our belief in operating the organization through our own donated labor we keep our expenses very low operating the entire organization at this time on less than $25,000 per year. Those costs come from nonprofit filing fees, insurance, renting event spaces, and paying outside experts from time to time to build us videos, websites, graphics, legal documents, etc. We also employ an Administrative Assistant, who currently works less than one day a week. We can use donation to cover these costs, and if donation allow we can expand our work to provide more input into local environmental issues.
