The Whatcom Environmental Council runs a lean organization. Most of our labor is contributed by Board members who provide their experience to advocate for environmental issues.  Our operating expenses are less than $25,000 per year.

​We incur additional costs when we decide that legal action is necessary. While we try hard to avoid litigation, sometimes it is necessary in order to make sure that our environmental values for Whatcom County are a priority - not an afterthought.
